Impact:
Germinare in numbers
8 years ago, Germinare begun its work with children creating Agents for Change
207 children were benefited in recent years from the cycle of educational leveling, including those who don’t enter the independent schools.
18 educational institutions provide scholarships for the program in the areas of Campana, Pilar, Zárate and San Fernando.
GERMINARE has signed agreements with: Universidad del Salvador, Universidad Argentina de la Empresa , Universidad Torcuato Di Tella y la Universidad Austral.
107 children participate in Germinare in 2010:
- students today are being leveled to meet scholarships in 2011
- 72 students now attend schools that are part of the program on a scholarship basis
- 5 youth attend university
16 students are members of the University Program, including those who are actually in university and those in senior school.
850 hours of English, Maths and Spanish classes are received by each child participating in the preparation and leveling cycle.
56 donors sponsor the school attendance of these children.
Research and innovation:
- “A new way of learning”: this program’s aim is to improve the quality of education. A team including both Germinare´s staff and an education specialist, graduated in Harvard University, work together to enrich, enlarge and upgrade the contents, objectives and material of the preparation and leveling period. The material is already being tested, the final manual will be handed to Germinare´s students next year.
- Pilot Program: A test was carried out in Pilar area anticipating the children’s age of admission. The purpose was to prove whether a child’s integration is benefited by entering earlier to the new independent schools.
- New processes and tests for admissions are being developed.

GERMINARE does NOT have as a specific objective to fight school drop-out, nevertheless, by giving students access to a better education, it is solving this problem indirectly / GERMINARE identifies children that are unsatisfied in public schools with low academic level and gives them the opportunity of having a better education.
GERMINARE is NOT looking for an immediate impact / GERMINARE develops long term work with children from elementary school until completing college. The long run is the only way to produce a significant change in the life of a child and to influence their family. Only in this way will it be possible to produce significant changes in the community of origin.
GERMINARE does NOT simply “accompany” children / GERMINARE has developed an intensive tuition program for individual education and support that is much more than just accompaniment. It includes a variety of workshops, seminars, remedial classes, psychological support, etc. carried out on a daily basis during six years, and that forms a whole that makes Agents for Change a program tailored to the needs of each child.
GERMINARE does NOT give money to the students or to their families while children are attending school / GERMINARE seeks financing through companies or sponsors whose contributions make it possible for the child to go through a leveling process and then to enter the new school for seven years.
GERMINARE provides MORE than a short-term university scholarship / GERMINARE created a program that includes agreements with universities that provide full scholarships to complete college, and in a second stage, the Foundation team orients, trains and provides students with tools to enter the job market.
